Repair and Service CentreWe are fully equipped to carry out repairs and general servicing work on most makes of equipment. We have also been authorised to carry out most warranty repair work for most of our main suppliers, which means that should a product develop a fault within its guarantee period we can normally deal with the matter in-house instead of returning the item(s) to the manufacturer.Repair & Servicing Price Guide PDF (coming soon) The workshop is open on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 10:30am until 5:30pm. If you have a piece of equipment that needs attention, PLEASE CALL US FIRST to arrange a convenient time for you to bring it in to us. We operate on a first come first served basis, so pre-booked repair jobs will always take priority over others. However, as we are also authorised to carry out warranty repairs on the manufacturer's behalf, all warranty repairs MUST take the highest priority, and this can sometimes lead to minor delays. Hire DepartmentWe have a fairly substantial hire department, with various equipment available to rent at very reasonable rates. Company HistoryThe company was originally known as K.M (an abbreviation of Kingsley & Martin), and the retail/installation division was aquired by its present owner in 1996. The present owner purchased KM Installations in June of this year, leaving the previous owner to continue running the very successful local entertainments agency known as KM Entertainments . The shop was run for just under a year under its new management at the original address in Chichester Road. March 1997 saw the first move and the renaming of the company to Portsmouth Sound & Light. It was at this time that the quirky "rapper" logo was found to help launch the new company, along with the distinctive red and yellow font for our abbreviated PSL name. The second move into a much larger premises took place three years later, where the shop was expanded over two floors.A further five years later when the lease on the premises was up for renewal, disaster struck when the entire shop front was completely destroyed in a serious road traffic accident. However in some ways this could also be seen as a major advantage, as it nececitated the need for a brand new shop frontage! The rebuilding of the shop front conincided with the decision to expand the sound & lighting demo suite, where a large 5x5m trilite truss rig has been constructed to display all the lighting effects. So after many months of technical glitches and teething problems, this website was finally launched in February 2006. And we are confident that we will soon develop a reputation for being one of the UKs leading online retailers of professional sound and lighting equipment. June 2006 sees the 10th anniversary of the company's aquisition by its present owner. |
